The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it has completed a nationwide verification and validation of its voter album ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for 31 January 2026.
The Chairman of the Presidential Elections Committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu, told journalists at the party’s headquarters in Accra that the exercise covered all constituencies, including external branches, and was aimed at ensuring an accurate and credible register of delegates who will vote in the primaries.
He said all aspirants will receive a provisional version of the voter register on 13 November 2025, after which they will have two weeks to review and raise any concerns.
“The nationwide voter album verification and validation exercise, encompassing all constituencies and external branches, has been successfully concluded. In the interest of full transparency and fairness, all aspirants will be furnished with the provisional voter register on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Two weeks will be provided for verification, observations, and feedback before finalising the register,” Mr Osei-Owusu said.
He acknowledged that some administrative errors, including spelling mistakes and data entry omissions, were identified but insisted these did not undermine the integrity of the register.
“I am pleased to report that all such issues are currently being rectified,” he added.
The process also confirmed the removal of delegates who had died or lost their membership, in accordance with Article 3(9)(1) of the party’s constitution.
Five candidates are contesting the flagbearer position: Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr Bryan Acheampong, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
The Committee said the Ghana Police Service will have exclusive responsibility for election-day security, while the Electoral Commission will supervise the printing, distribution and monitoring of ballot papers.
Mr Osei-Owusu said the Committee remains committed to a peaceful and credible process and urged party supporters and the media to avoid circulating unverified claims that could undermine public confidence.
