The NPP has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and fairness in its internal electoral processes, urging the public and party stakeholders to disregard recent comments made by two of its regional chairmen.
In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong on Sunday, September 28, 2025, the party’s national leadership distanced itself from pronouncements made by Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, and Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC.
“Their statements do not represent the ideals and practices of the party,” the release said, emphasising that no individual, irrespective of rank or position, has unilateral control over the compilation of polling station albums.
According to the party, the compilation of polling station albums follows strict compliance procedures, with the National Secretariat expected to issue official guidelines and protocols in due course.
“Such pronouncements should be disregarded and treated with the utmost contempt they deserve,” the statement added.
The release also addressed claims by Chairman Wontumi suggesting that the decision to hold the party’s presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, was intended to favour a particular aspirant. The party dismissed the allegation as “unfounded,” explaining that the National Council’s decision was reached after “exhaustive deliberations” in the supreme and strategic interest of the party.
“The calibre of members of the National Council makes it impossible for any individual to manipulate or influence decisions in their favour,” the statement noted.
The NPP explained that the early congress is strategically timed to allow the party ample opportunity to reorganise and reposition itself ahead of the 2028 general elections.
