The first batch of pilgrims, numbering 430, have returned from Saudi Arabia, where they went to observe one of the pillars of Islamic customs, “Hajj”.
Hon. Shani Alhassan Shaibu, Northern Regional Minister, welcomed the pilgrims who touched down at Tamale International Airport today, July 10, 2023, at exactly 5:00 a.m. via a Lion FlyNas A330 aircraft.
“About five additional flights will be landing at the Tamale International Airport later, in the order in which they were flown from Tamale to Saudi Arabia,” the Minister disclosed.
He also assured the pilgrims of the safety of their luggage and that of their fellow pilgrims who are yet to arrive.
Speaking to the media, a section of the pilgrims urged the government to reduce the airfare for the Hajj in the coming years to allow others to have the opportunity to partake in the all-important activity.
The pilgrims expressed gratitude to the government and Ghana Hajj Board for a well-planned trip in terms of foods, accommodation, transportation, and other related activities.
