Six communities in the middle zone of the Northern Region have been connected to the national grid under the Rural Electrification Project (REP).

The beneficiary communities are Nsoja, Tafalido, Wagambo1, Manyini, Lijoblibo, and Wagambo2.

The Member of Parliament for Mion Constituency, Hon. Musah Abdul Aziz Ayaba, who inaugurated the project, praised the people for their patience and support since the commencement of the project.

The lawmaker used the occasion to express his appreciation to the constituents of the beneficiary communities for the trust and confidence they have in him as the constituency’s representative in Parliament.

“Before I took office, I made a promise to connect entire communities without electricity to the national grid in my constituency.”

“I am happy we have been able to complete the project today despite the delays, and this is why I feel that the chiefs, elders, and good people of these communities have to be commended for their patience and support towards the project,”  he said.

On behalf of the chiefs and people of the communities, Jagri Linpuan Chief, Lijobilbu Community, expressed gratitude to the Member of Parliament and government for extending electricity to the communities and appealed to the government to continue to include the communities in its developmental drive and agenda.

“I wish to, on behalf of the chiefs and our people, express our appreciation to our MP for his deep and continued efforts to get us connected to the national grid.”

“We are also grateful to the government for supporting our member of parliament to deliver electricity to us today and also wish to encourage it to continue to include our communities in its development efforts,” he added.

The Deputy Minister of Energy, Hon. Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, said the Nana Addo-led government has an agenda to connect all communities to the national grid before he ends his term of office.

He stated that the communities have been voting for the NDC since the creation of this constituency and now that an NPP Member of Parliament has been elected to represent the constituency, they have really brought change to the constituency, urging them to vote for the NPP in all future elections.

He, however, advised the people in the communities to use electricity judiciously.

In attendance were the District Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Kwesi Mahama, the Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Fusieni Alhassan Sule, constituency and regional executives of the party.
