The trial of Adjenim Boateng Adjei, former Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), has continued before the High Court in Accra, with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) pressing eight charges of corruption-related offences.
Mr Adjei, who headed the PPA until his suspension and subsequent dismissal in 2020, is accused of using his public office for profit and manipulating procurement processes to gain undue personal benefit. The OSP alleges that he directly and indirectly influenced contract awards in violation of the Public Procurement Act and ethical standards governing public office.
According to court documents, the former PPA boss is standing trial on eight counts, including using public office for profit and directly and indirectly influencing the procurement process to obtain an unfair advantage.
A statement from the Office of the Special Prosecutor confirmed the proceedings, stating:
“The Republic v. Adjenim Boateng Adjei (CR/0257/2024) involves allegations of abuse of public office and manipulation of the procurement process for personal benefit.”
The OSP added that the case, titled “The Republic v. Adjenim Boateng Adjei”, has been adjourned to 21 October 2025 for continuation.
Mr Adjei first came under public scrutiny following an investigative exposé that prompted his suspension and subsequent probe by the OSP.
