It has emerged that more sums of money have been discovered from the stables of embattled former Sanitation and Water Resources Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
Reports emanating from the Office of the Special Prosecutor disclosed that substantial sums of US$590,000 and GHC 2,730,000 in cash were uncovered during the search conducted at the Abelemkpe residence of the former Minister.
Officials from the Office of the Special Prosecutor reportedly took immediate action, seizing these substantial cash sums as crucial evidence to support the ongoing investigation.
Since the alleged theft incident, the OSP has frozen the former minister’s cedi and dollar accounts pending further investigations.
An Accra High Court has set Thursday, August 17, to rule on the confirmation or otherwise of the freezing of Cecilia Dapaah’s various accounts.
In a statement last month, the OSP asked the public to disregard reports of much more money found in Ms. Dapaah’s residence, stating that it would provide more information as it proceeds with investigations.
The Attorney-General’s Department has also taken up the case and arrested more people in connection with the alleged theft of money by househelps in Ms. Dapaah’s residence.
More details soon.
