Leadership of Parliament will today, Thursday, November 27, deliver their official closing statements on the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, bringing the general debate on the budget to a formal conclusion.
In a statement issued by the Parliamentary Service, both the majority and minority leadership will outline their final positions on the fiscal plan ahead of the next phase, which will involve detailed committee-level examination and sectoral implementation.
The Parliamentary Service said the concluding remarks will highlight key concerns raised during debates, identify strategic priorities across major sectors of the economy, and provide guidance on Parliament’s direction for the 2026 fiscal year.
“Over the past weeks, Members of Parliament have engaged in extensive analysis, consultations and constructive review of the Budget. The Leadership’s final submissions will consolidate these deliberations and offer a clear framework for the implementation stage,” the Service said.
Stakeholders, including government agencies, the private sector and civil society, have been urged to closely follow the statements and prepare for further internal briefings and follow-up actions to be communicated after the presentations.
The general debate on the budget commenced following the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy by the Minister for Finance earlier this month.
