TWILIGHT

It’s morning and the sunlight
Is gracing us with its warmth.
The skies are blue; the chirps of
Birds can be heard in the streets.

The day is just beginning but man
Is already hot. The shuffling of his
Feet and the buzz from his cars
Can be heard in the distance.

In his bid to fit into the rat race,
He has become oblivious to the
Inevitability of twilight.
He is too busy to even give it a thought.

But in that busyness lies his own undoing, Because however long the
Day may seem, twilight will follow
Afterwards leading to the dark of night.

His strength by then will wane,
All that he was chasing after will be
Gone with the wind and death with its
Icy claws will start gnawing at him.

At that moment, he’ll begin to reminisce
In deep regret how he majored in
The minors and minored in the majors.
How that in the pursuit of a better life,

He missed fulfilling his purpose in
Accordance to his Maker’s will.
How that he relegated that purpose
To the base of his subconscious and

Fully embraced the vanities of life.
Then on his dying bed, he’ll plead for
Mercy and pardon because He thinks
Of his Creator as One to be taken for

Granted in his youth and One to be
Taken seriously on his dying bed.
How pathetic he is! Death will snatch
Him regardless and his life on earth

Will be over in a snap!
How will he fare in eternity???

Reynold Adjei

PS: My dear readers, seek your Creator’s will from the get go and live your life in alignment with that will so you won’t live a wasted life or be in regret in the twilight season of your life. Selah!
