Police arrest thirteen illegal miners at Wassa Gyapa

The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested thirteen (13) suspects in connection with illegal mining activities at Wassa Gyapa in the Western Region.

The suspects — Nana Ampadu, Stephen Tetteh, Yaw Dalame, Samuel Amoah, Kwame Oppong, Francis Oduom, Owusu Asare, Atta Kwame, Apiyanga Emmanuel, Kojo Montanakito, Maxwell Owusu, Obofo Vincent, and Soogal Fataw — were arrested on 19th May 2025 as part of ongoing anti-galamsey operations in the area.

Police destroyed over one hundred and twenty (120) Changfang machines and confiscated six (6) motorbikes as evidence.

The suspects will be arraigned before the Tarkwa Circuit Court on Tuesday, 20th May 2025, to face the law.
