The Ghana Police Service says it has begun an investigation into the death of a 47-year-old man at Ashaiman.

In a statement released on February 16, 2024, the Ghana Police Service revealed that the deceased is a trader and not a military officer, as speculated earlier.

“The Ghana Police Service has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 47-year-old male adult at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region,” the statement said.

“The deceased, identified as Eric Baidoo, a trader, was allegedly stabbed by an assailant currently on the run on Thursday, February 15, 2024,” it added.

The statement disclosed that the body of the deceased has been sent to the police hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

It also furthered that the Tema Regional Police Commander, on February 16, 2024, led a police delegation to sympathise with the family of the deceased and assured them of a thorough investigation into the incident.

According to the police, “an intelligence-led operation is underway to get the perpetrator(s) arrested to face justice.”

On February 16, 2024, there were speculations on the alleged murder of a military officer in Ashaiman on social media.

The speculations have, however, turned out to be untrue, as the said deceased is a cloth seller identified as Eric Baidoo and was allegedly stabbed to death multiple times at ‘Kufour Station’ by unknown assailants.
