The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged assault of Joy FM journalist Latif Iddrisu during the arrest of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

According to a press release signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the incident occurred at the premises of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), where Chairman Wontumi was being taken into custody.

The Police Command stated that it is currently reviewing all available evidence, including video footage and eyewitness accounts, to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and to identify those involved.

“The Ghana Police Service reaffirms its commitment to upholding the rights of all individuals, including members of the media, and ensuring that the rule of law is maintained throughout our operations,” the statement read.
