Aggrieved former participants of the 2023 National Science and Mathematics Quiz, Prempeh College says it supports an injunction suit filed by an acquaintance of the school against the quiz organisers.
On Friday, photos of an injunction suit against Primetime Limited, organisers of the popular academic competition, went viral on social media.
Although the name of the suit applicant is not immediately known as that portion was blotted out on the document, it is reported that a parent of one of the Prempeh NSMQ team members filed it.
The suit demanded, among other things, the restraining of Prime Time Limited from holding the grand finale of the competition before or after the published date of October 30th until the concerns of the Sofoline-based school are satisfactorily addressed.
The school, in a protest letter to the organisers after their exit at the semi-final stage, stated that an answer their team provided in the last round of their contest was wrongly rejected.
Prempeh argued, citing some academic sources, that the “principle of superposition,” which the team provided in a riddle question, is the same as the “principle of linear superposition, which the quiz mistress required.
However, Primetime stated in a response that the two principles are not the same. It was also noted that they satisfactorily explained through their physics consultant the two principles when Prempeh initially challenged the “error” during their contest.
Prempeh had, in another letter, refuted the claims of Prime Time, adding that they would follow the issue to its logical conclusion, including exploring legal procedures.
Meanwhile, Primetime, which has scheduled the grand finale of the quiz at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, has yet to respond to the injunction application.
