Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC-Legon) has inaugurated a groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence (AI) Experience Centre as part of its 86th anniversary celebrations.

The facility, spearheaded by the school’s 1999 Year Group, aims to enhance STEM education both at PRESEC and nationwide.

Launched on the sidelines of the school’s Speech & Prize Giving Day on Saturday, November 30, 2024, the AI Experience Centre is the first of its kind among senior high schools in Ghana.

It is designed to bridge the gap between academic curricula and the technological expertise demanded by modern industries.

Bright Simons, Honorary Vice President of IMANI Africa and President of mPedigree, highlighted the transformative potential of AI in his address during the launch.

He underscored how AI can empower teachers and students alike, emphasising its ability to simplify access to the latest information and enhance the learning process.

“AI is going to help our teachers simply obtain the latest information to design their curricula and to do so in a way that amplifies and augments their training,” Mr. Simons, who is also an alumnus of the school, stated.

He urged students to embrace AI, noting its capacity to simplify tasks and unlock numerous opportunities.

Global Vice President of Presec’s Alumni Association (Odadee) and Chief Executive Officer of Telecel Ghana, Patricia Obo-Nai, also inspired the students to leverage the facility to tackle real-world challenges.

“As you step into the AI lab, know that you are stepping into a world of possibilities, where learning is no longer confined to textbooks, where creativity knows no bounds, and where your ideas can become tomorrow’s reality,” she said.

Madam Obo-Nai encouraged the students to think innovatively and become problem-solvers in fields such as healthcare, finance, engineering, and entrepreneurship.

She further announced Telecel Ghana’s partnership with the 1999 Year Group as the data service provider for the AI Experience Centre, ensuring its operational efficiency.
