President Mahama unveils 19-member cabinet, holds inaugural meeting

President John Dramani Mahama has announced a 19-member cabinet, featuring key ministries such as Finance, Energy, Education, and Interior. The newly constituted team includes 17 men and two women.

Below is the full list of cabinet ministers:

  • Minister for Finance: Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson

  • Minister for the Interior: Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka

  • Minister for Health: Kwabena Mintah Akandoh

  • Minister for Defence: Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah

  • Attorney General & Minister for Justice: Dominic Akuritinga Ayine

  • Minister for Energy & Green Transition: John Abdulai Jinapor

  • Minister for Education: Haruna Iddrisu

  • Minister for Trade, Agribusiness & Industry: Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare

  • Minister for Lands & Natural Resources: Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah

  • Minister for Foreign Affairs: Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa

  • Minister for Food & Agriculture: Eric Opoku

  • Minister for Communication, Digital Technology & Innovations: Samuel Nartey George

  • Minister for Roads & Highways: Kwame Governs Agbodza

  • Minister for Environment, Science & Technology: Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed

  • Minister for Works, Housing & Water Resources: Kenneth Adjei

  • Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy & Religious Affairs: Ahmed Ibrahim

  • Minister for Gender, Children & Social Protection: Naa Momo Lartey

  • Minister for Transport: Joseph Bukari Nikpe

  • Minister for Labour, Jobs & Employment: Abdul-Rashid H. Pelpuo

Following the announcement, President Mahama convened the first cabinet meeting on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Jubilee House. The session provided an opportunity for ministers to be briefed on key national issues, particularly security and economic policies.

Addressing the press after the meeting, Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, noted that the gathering introduced ministers to their roles and set expectations for governance.

“The meeting was primarily to familiarize ministers with their responsibilities and outline the government’s agenda, with a strong emphasis on national security and economic management,” he stated.

The cabinet is expected to meet regularly to develop policies addressing Ghana’s critical challenges and advancing national development.
