The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) has marked a historic milestone with the promotion of Dr Mrs Sheena Lovia Boateng to the rank of Associate Professor, making her the first woman to attain professorship in Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the premier university.

Prof. Boateng’s elevation, confirmed in February 2025, crowns nearly a decade of dedicated service to academia, research, and leadership at the University of Ghana.

She has served in various capacities, including Lecturer (2019–2022), Senior Lecturer (2022–2025), and now Associate Professor.

Beyond her teaching and research responsibilities, she currently coordinates the Executive MBA and Weekend MBA (Marketing) programmes at UGBS.

Her academic contributions extend well beyond Ghana. She sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Rural Business (University of West Alabama), serves as Associate Editor for Humanities and Social Sciences Communications (Springer Nature), and has been a member of the Emerald Emerging Markets Case Study editorial board.

She is widely recognised for her expertise in research, data analysis, teaching, and marketing strategy.

Outside the classroom, Prof. Boateng is the founder of Women in Tertiary Education (WITE), an initiative that champions female participation and advancement in academia.

She is also the Executive Director and Senior Researcher at the Pearl Richards Foundation, where she leads projects and programmes promoting education, innovation, and social development.

Her influence extends into consultancy and development work, having previously served as a short-term consultant for the World Bank Group and as a graduate researcher on the Danida BSU E-learning project.

She also lends her talents to the creative space as music director at Believe Over Hope, a role she has held for nearly a decade.
