Ghanaian businessman Richard Nii-Armah Quaye is under scrutiny from the country’s tax authorities following his extravagant 40th birthday celebration on Saturday at the Black Star Square.
The event, which took place in Ghana, attracted high-profile celebrities and dignitaries from around the world.
After the multi-million-cedi event, Quaye was reportedly gifted three luxurious vehicles by his “business partners” as a birthday present.
Reports indicate that Quaye’s bank accounts have been frozen due to alleged inconsistencies in his tax filings.
However, it remains unclear which state authority is responsible for the freeze, as the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has not issued any official statement on the matter.
Quaye, who recently made headlines for purchasing a custom-branded private jet and a Bugatti Chiron, is reportedly linked to 29 companies, including Bills Micro Credit (formerly Quick Credit).
Concerns have been raised over discrepancies between his declared tax filings and the financial obligations he is expected to meet.
His source of wealth has also been questioned by social media users, especially after he claimed in past interviews that he made his first fortune by washing thousands of plates a day at a restaurant.
Quaye’s birthday celebration and the subsequent investigation have made him a trending topic in Ghana and beyond.
