S/R: We’ll resist commissioning of renovated Jakpa Palace by Veep – Dankare Lembu Group

Dankare Be Lembu, a group in Gonjaland, has held a press conference opposing the commissioning of the renovated Jakpa palace in Damongo by the Vice President of Ghana and Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Alhassan Kodua, PRO of the Dankare Be Lembu group, said they have received a communication to the effect that the Vice President of Ghana and Flag Bearer of the NPP, Dr. Bawumia, as part of his campaign tour in the Savannah Region, will be meeting the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs.

Alongside the meeting, it has been scheduled for Dr. Bawumia to hand over the renovated Jakpa Palace to the Yagbonwura.

He added that they are not opposed to the Vice President having a meeting with the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs, nor are they opposed to any other political activities he intends to undertake with the Regional House of Chiefs, but are vehemently opposed to the scheduled handing over of the palace to the Yagbonwura.

Alhassan Kodua stated that some people were under the wrong impression that the Yagbonwura didn’t move into the Jakpa Palace because the building was falling off and needed immediate renovation.

“We want to put it on record that it is a palpable falsehood and a creature of mischief and wicked mindset. The Yagbonwura has indicated that he is observing some spiritual protocols that, by design, do not allow him to step into the renovated palace,” he reiterated.

He further stated that “even as the palace has been renovated, our Overlord is still not moving into it anytime soon. So we entreat the public to treat the said information with utter contempt.”

The current palace was built through the joint efforts of the Gonjaland Youth Association and the district assemblies within Gonjaland.
