The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced a comprehensive support programme for victims of the El-Wak Stadium stampede, pledging free medical care, special recruitment consideration, and assistance to grieving families.
In a statement expressing regret over the tragedy, GAF extended condolences to the families of the six applicants who died.
“The Ghana Armed Forces regrets the unfortunate incident, and extends its deepest sympathies to the bereaved families,” the military said.
All injured applicants will continue to receive free medical treatment at the 37 Military Hospital until they recover, GAF confirmed. The military also disclosed plans for a special recruitment package for victims who regain full fitness, as well as support for families of the deceased.
“A special recruitment package will be offered to all injured after full recovery and also to the bereaved families,” the statement assured.
The measures come as public concern grows over safety lapses during mass recruitment exercises. GAF acknowledged the pain caused by the incident and reaffirmed its commitment to preventing future fatalities.
As investigations continue, the Armed Forces said it remains focused on providing relief to affected families.
“The Ghana Armed Forces continues to count on the cooperation of the general public in this endeavour,” the statement added.
