Starlink internet service is scheduled to launch in Ghana by the end of August 2024.
This follows the completion of all administrative and licensing requirements by the National Communications Authority (NCA), enabling the satellite-based service to launch its high-speed internet services across the country.
Prior to this approval in Ghana, consumers could get over local Starlink restrictions and sign up for its international roaming service on the black market.
The NCA also stated that Space X Starlink GH LTD, an affiliate of Musk’s SpaceX, will supervise the service in Ghana.
Starlink’s approval comes after analysts have called for alternative sources of internet data following a major outage in March 2024, which lasted for about a week.
