Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has vehemently refuted claims that it dismissed more than 2,000 students for missing deadlines for their tuition payments.
In a statement released on August 12, 2023, the institution claimed that no students had been dismissed and instead asked them to delay their programs if they had not registered for the second semester of the 2022–2023 academic year.
Assertions that the decisions were made by the Chancellor, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, were also refuted by the school, which claimed that the Academic Board made the decisions instead.
The university noted that it has a policy of withdrawing students who fail to register, but it decided to be lenient in this case, asking affected students to defer their programmes.
Additionally, KsTU assured the public that there is no tension on campus and that over 11,000 students who registered for the Second Semester are “comfortably writing their examinations without any difficulty.”
Below is the full statement from the KsTU.
