In a bold move to reimagine Africa’s place in the global technology landscape, The MakersPlace is bringing the ENJOY AI 2025 African Open to Accra, Ghana, on September 27–28, 2025. This flagship event will convene children and teenagers aged 3 to 22 from across the continent for Africa’s most inclusive robotics and artificial intelligence challenge yet.
Participants will include teams from Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Lesotho, Morocco, and others yet to confirm.
ENJOY AI is a global robotics initiative that introduces young people to real-world applications of technology, coding, artificial intelligence, and innovation through engaging, age-appropriate competitions. It provides a platform for developing problem-solving, collaboration, and engineering skills in a fun and supportive environment.
The 2025 African Open will feature four unique competition categories tailored to different age groups and learning levels:
Geometric Forest (Ages 3–8)
This early childhood challenge introduces robotics through storytelling and play. Young participants will complete imaginative tasks such as fruit picking, guiding animals home, and rice planting—nurturing foundational STEM skills through nature-themed adventures.
Cyber City (Ages 9–22)
Set in a futuristic, tech-driven spaceport, students will take on fast-paced, space-themed missions. The challenge blends AI, coding, and engineering as participants use strategic thinking and innovation to solve interconnected tasks.
Skyline Adventures (Ages 9–22)
This drone-based challenge encourages students to apply visual recognition, drone flight programming, and real-time problem-solving. It offers a gateway to exploring aerospace technology through creativity and design.
Battle of Tribes
An advanced team challenge that pushes collaboration, strategy, and innovation to new levels in a competitive robotics arena.
