The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) has announced the appointment of Professor Ernest Yaw Tweneboah-Koduah as its new Dean, succeeding Professor Justice Nyigmah Bawole, who concludes a two-term tenure widely regarded as foundational to the School’s institutional development.
Professor Tweneboah-Koduah assumes leadership as the first faculty member from the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship to be named Dean—a development that marks both a personal milestone and a broader institutional shift. The appointment underscores the growing relevance of marketing in academic discourse and its strategic importance within Ghana’s evolving economic framework.
An alumnus of UGBS, Professor Tweneboah-Koduah holds a BSc in Administration and an MPhil in Marketing from the University of Ghana, as well as a PhD from London Metropolitan University. He has served the institution for over 18 years in various capacities, including two terms as Head of Department, where he was instrumental in shaping the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship into a centre of academic and practical relevance.
Professor Tweneboah-Koduah has held key strategic roles within the university, chairing the Safety and Security Services Committee and the Marketing and Communications Committee. He has also coordinated programmes such as the MA Marketing Strategy, Executive MBA, and Weekend MBA Marketing, driving improvements in programme delivery and enrolment outcomes.
A noted academic in social marketing and behaviour change, Professor Tweneboah-Koduah has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals, with work focusing on public policy, health promotion, and entrepreneurship. His scholarship is recognised for its application to both academic inquiry and real-world challenges.
In addition to his academic and administrative experience, Professor Tweneboah-Koduah brings a personal commitment to faith-based leadership. He serves as an Elder of the Church of Pentecost and is active in national and corporate governance through various board roles, including with the Bible Society of Ghana.
While the appointment is a notable moment for the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, university authorities emphasise continuity and strategic focus. The new Dean is expected to build on the foundation laid by Professor Bawole, advancing the School’s mission through measured growth, academic rigour, and responsive leadership.
The University’s leadership expressed confidence in Professor Tweneboah-Koduah’s capacity to steward the Business School in a period marked by increased demand for locally grounded yet globally competitive business education.
