We still exist; help us reach Ghanaians – CPP tells media

Former Deputy Regional Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Joseph Kwadwo Afari-Yeboah, has bemoaned the biased nature of reportage in the media that favours only the two leading parties, the NPP and NDC.

He has therefore called on the media to help the CPP party reach out to Ghanaians.

Comrade Afari-Yeboah contended that the media always talks about only the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which has made their party non-existent in the country.

At a press conference organised by the Concerned CPP Members in Accra on Thursday, Comrade Afari-Yeboah charged the media to draw the attention of Ghanaians to the CPP party, as that would help them get new members.

“You are not telling our stories; you are not engaging us; you are not talking about us; how do you expect Ghanaians to hear about us?” he asked.

“Because we need to reach out to Ghanaians, we need to prepare ourselves, but it doesn’t happen. Every issue in Ghana has been polarized, whether it’s NDC or NPP, as if we, who gave birth to our democracy as a nation, don’t exist,” he lamented further.

Mr. Afari-Yeboah highlighted that they do exist, so they will need all and sundry, as well as the media, to help them prepare well and reorganize the party ahead of the 2024 elections.

“If there is any issue, nobody comes to even ask about our opinion; who says we don’t have one?”

He noted that they are professionals when it comes to decision-making; hence, the media must engage them and make them front-liners in decision-making.

“What we are saying is that the CPP has a lot to offer. You guys help us, speak to Ghanaians, and speak to our people for us. You write it, it goes far; we’re speaking for you to convey our message to the people”, Mr. Afari-Yeboah observed.
