A renowned Ghanaian author, Professor Enoch Opoku-Antwi, has advised pupils that they will bear the consequences of whatever they have passion for.
Prof. Opoku-Antwi was contributing to a one-day seminar organised by the Ladies Network for Economic Freedom, an NGO for pupils in the La-Nkwantan Municipality, under the theme “Empower Her: Igniting Girls Potential in Liberty, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership.”.
He expressed his strong passion for leadership and observed his inability to countenance a lack of performance in organisations that have leaders.
“If you like men, you will suffer for it. If you like women because that is your passion, you will suffer for it. Anything that you have passion for, you will suffer for it. I have a passion for leadership, and I suffer for it. Anywhere that I go and find leadership gaps, I talk about it,” he said.
He said that because they would suffer as a result of their individual passions, he tasked them with being on the lookout.
“I have a passion for leadership, and I suffer for it, so anywhere that I go and find leadership gaps, it troubles me, and I talk about it, so watch your passion,” he added.
He told the pupils to believe in themselves in becoming great future leaders, adding that the only thing they will need to hold in high esteem are their values.
Prof. Opoku-Antwi also narrated the feats of the the then richest man on earth, Bill Gates, and how he believed in the word that was said to him growing up that he could be the richest man, and against the odds that Bill never had a television or laptop yet due to his passion for reading, grew to become the world’s richest man until surpassed by others.
“So Bill is in his house; there is no TV, no laptop, just a library, and he is the only one who has bought a book for 4.5 million dollars. He likes books because there is lots of knowledge in them, so start reading,” he said.
The author said that the pupils can even aspire to become the next president of the Republic of Ghana some day, but was quick to add that they can only get there when they put their values to use and are honest with themselves as well as others.
He added that if they don’t believe in themselves, no one else can.
The seminar, which was supported by La-Nkwantanan Municipality of the Ghana Education Service, featured other speakers, including Charles Fiifi Hagan, a pastor and founder of Chayil Institute, Adwoa Akyenba Ampah of the Girls Education Directorate of GES, La-Nkwantanan Municipality, and Angela Okai-Nartey, who is also the founder of the Ladies Network for Economic Freedom.
