A young woman, whose identity is unknown yet, has mounted onto the tunnel under the flyover at Kwame Nkrumah Circle on Thursday, July 25.
The woman, who is believed to be in her early 20s, from nowhere, was seen under a spot at the overpass on the Kwame Nkrumah Circle-Obetsebi Lamptey Roundabout stretch.
This drew personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service to rescue her following SOS calls from the public.
It took some minutes for personnel from the GNFS to rescue her after failed attempts at using a ladder to get the young woman’s location.
A throng of sellers, pedestrians, and onlookers had also gathered at the spot, awaiting her to come down or be rescued.
She has since been released onto a nearby ambulance for further attention.
Speaking to The Sikaman Times, an official of the GNFS revealed that the young woman used a small passage under to get under the bridge.
According to him, she suspects the woman might have some mental challenges considering the reasonability of her actions.
He further urged the Ghana Highway Authority to seal up the open spaces under the overpass.
The woman is presently not responding to any questions from the rescue team.
