The National Communications Authority (NCA) has pledged to work closely with mobile network operators (MNOs) to guarantee uninterrupted telecommunication services during the upcoming elections and beyond.

As part of this initiative, the NCA has established a dedicated situation room at its monitoring centre. This facility will track media activities and promptly address communication-related issues by liaising with the relevant mobile network operators.

“This effort demonstrates our readiness to ensure uninterrupted telecommunication services starting tomorrow and continuing beyond the elections,” stated Prof. Ezer Osei Yeboah-Boateng, Deputy Director-General for Technical Operations at the NCA at a media briefing.

The move is part of a broader strategy to support the electoral process and provide reliable communication for all stakeholders.

Speaking about the initiative, Prof. Yeboah-Boateng emphasised the critical role telecommunications play in communication and information dissemination during elections.

“The situation room has been set up for obvious reasons because telecommunications are vital during the electioneering period,” he explained.

He added that the initiative, which commences tomorrow and runs through Sunday, involves close collaboration with stakeholders, including mobile network operators (MNOs).

“If we receive any information from the public, we can escalate it to the MNOs for prompt action. Similarly, if the MNOs report any issues, we can take the necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted communication service throughout the period,” he assured.
