The Guinness World Record has revealed on Friday, 23rd February 2024, that the challenge by Afua Asantewaa Aduonum for the longest singing marathon was not successful.
Responding via X to a tweet by a social media user enquiring about the status of Afua’s evidence, GWR said that the broadcaster and event organiser who sang for almost 127 hours could not have her challenge approved.
“Unfortunately Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon.”
“We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts”, the GWR post read.
Afua announced earlier this month that she had paid some $750 to the globally acclaimed records company in order to fast-track the review of her evidence.
The mother of three disclosed in a previous interview that she would pursue another GWR contest regardless of the outcome of her sing-a-thon attempt.
It is unclear whether Afua has received official communication from GWR regarding her unsuccessful attempt.
