The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame has announced that his office will appeal the decision that resulted in the acquittal and discharge of Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and two others, including businessman Richard Jakpa.
In a press statement on Tuesday, July 30, after the Court of Appeal in a 2:1 decision overturned the trial court’s directive for Dr. Forson to present his defence in the ongoing ambulance trial, Mr. Dame described the court’s decision as “grossly unfair to the nation and inimical to the fight against impunity and abuse in public office.”
The request was presided over by Justice Poku Acheampong, who approved the acquittal and discharge of Dr. Forson and businessman Richard Jakpa by Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo and Philip Bright Mensah.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ato Forson has reacted to the Court of Appeal’s decision.
“Romans 9:14 What, then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all!” he said in an X post.
