The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has announced the temporary closure of the Anyinam Bypass on the Accra–Kumasi Road to allow the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) to undertake tower relocation works along the national transmission line corridor.

In a statement issued by the Authority’s Public Affairs Division on 5th October 2025, the GHA said the closure is a safety measure to protect motorists and the public while engineering works are ongoing.

“For the safety of motorists and the public, the Authority strongly advises everyone to stay off the Anyinam Bypass while these works are ongoing,” the statement said.

The closure, which takes effect from Sunday, 5th October, to Tuesday, 14th October, 2025, forms part of coordinated efforts between GRIDCo and the GHA to support the relocation of transmission towers affected by the ongoing expansion of the Accra–Kumasi highway.

The Authority assured the public that measures have been put in place to minimise disruptions and ensure smooth traffic management.

“The Ghana Police Service will be present to assist with traffic management and ensure public safety throughout the exercise,” the statement added.

The GHA expressed regret for any inconvenience the temporary closure might cause and appealed to the public for patience and cooperation.

“We appeal to all motorists and commuters to cooperate with the team of engineers as we work together to ensure safe and efficient travel along the Accra–Kumasi corridor,” it stated.

The Authority reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of all road users while maintaining the integrity of critical infrastructure along the nation’s major transport routes.
