BudgIT Ghana has joined the nation in mourning the passing of former First Lady, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as “a visionary leader, social reformer, and tireless advocate for women’s empowerment and national development.”
In a statement issued in Accra on Monday, October 27, 2025, and signed by Nancy Adzo Akpene Avevor, Communications Officer of BudgIT Ghana, the civic organisation hailed the late Mrs Agyeman-Rawlings as “a trailblazer whose life embodied courage, conviction, and compassion,” noting that her lifelong work laid a strong foundation for a more equitable Ghana.
“Through her pioneering efforts in advancing women’s rights and social inclusion, she helped lay the foundation for a more equitable Ghana,” the statement read.
“Her leadership through the 31st December Women’s Movement expanded opportunities for women across communities, empowering countless Ghanaians through education, entrepreneurship, and civic participation.”
BudgIT Ghana further highlighted her unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and good governance as a defining legacy that continues to inspire women leaders, policymakers, and advocates striving for a just and accountable society.
The organisation extended its condolences to the Rawlings family, the Government of Ghana, and all citizens mourning her passing, expressing solidarity with the nation during the period of reflection.
“As the nation observes the period of mourning declared in her honour, we stand in solidarity with Ghanaians reflecting on a life lived in unwavering service to country and humanity,” the statement concluded.
