Prophet Bernard Elbernard Nelson-Eshun has issued a public apology and accountability statement following the failure of his widely circulated prophetic declaration regarding the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, announcing a temporary withdrawal from public prophetic pronouncements and pulpit ministry.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the prophet admitted that his earlier prediction—that Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong would win the NPP presidential primaries and emerge as the party’s flagbearer—did not materialise. The declaration had been made through a book, videos, and several media interviews.
“That word did not come to pass. I missed it. I was wrong. I am deeply sorry, and I ask for your forgiveness,” Prophet Nelson-Eshun stated, taking full responsibility for the failed prophecy.
He acknowledged that his public pronouncement, delivered with prophetic authority, influenced many followers and had emotional, spiritual, and political consequences for some. “Because I spoke publicly with prophetic authority, many people trusted my word, and some were affected emotionally, spiritually, and politically. I acknowledge this with humility,” he said.
The prophet stressed that he was not shifting blame or offering excuses, but accepting responsibility for what he described as a prophetic failure. “I do not blame anyone or shift responsibility. I accept that this prophecy, as declared, failed,” he noted.
In a subsequent accountability statement, Prophet Nelson-Eshun announced that, as part of a personal process of reflection and realignment, he had decided to take a deliberate pause from making public prophetic declarations, particularly those related to national and political matters.
“In humility and accountability, I have chosen to take a short and intentional pause from making public prophetic declarations, particularly those related to national and political matters,” he said.
He further revealed that he would also step back for a season from public teaching, preaching, and pulpit ministry, describing the move as voluntary and intentional. According to him, the decision is aimed at allowing time for prayer, counsel, reflection, and strengthening accountability in how prophetic revelations are received, interpreted, and communicated.
“This is a deliberate and voluntary step to allow for reflection, prayer, counsel, and the strengthening of accountability,” the statement explained.
Prophet Nelson-Eshun, however, clarified that he was not abandoning his calling or ministry entirely. He indicated that he would remain engaged in personal prayer, study, and quiet pastoral responsibilities while working on personal growth, integrity, and discernment.
“I am not stepping away from my calling or from ministry altogether. I remain committed to personal prayer, study, and quiet pastoral responsibility,” he said.
He also offered an apology to believers who may have been shaken in their faith by his actions, acknowledging concerns that the incident could have sown doubt about the voice of God. “I offer my apology to any believer in whom my actions may have sown doubt regarding the voice of God and His ability to speak to His people,” he added.
The prophet expressed gratitude to those who had corrected him “in love” and to supporters who continue to pray for him, appealing for patience and understanding as he navigates what he described as a season of accountability and renewal.
