The Office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations has called on churches across Ghana to offer “intense prayers” for the nation following a fatal accident involving government officials, military personnel, and executives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a message signed by Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the presidency urged churches to intercede for President John Dramani Mahama, the government, state institutions, bereaved families, and the entire nation.
The statement, addressed to ecumenical heads, described the tragedy as a moment for unity, healing, and collective spiritual responsibility.
“In light of the tragic accident that occurred recently, which claimed lives and involved government officials, military personnel, and NDC party executives, we humbly request your intense prayers for the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the Government and all State institutions, the bereaved families, and the entire nation of Ghana,” the statement said.
“May the Lord comfort the afflicted, guide our leaders, and continue to preserve our beloved country,” it added.
The call forms part of a wider effort to strengthen partnerships between the presidency and faith leaders in promoting peace and moral integrity during what the envoy described as “times of uncertainty and complexity”.
