The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers of its Customs Division with immediate effect, pending the outcome of an internal investigation into alleged procedural breaches linked to a transit cargo operation.

In a press release issued on February 24, 2026, the Authority said the decision follows preliminary findings from an enforcement exercise conducted on February 18, 2026. The operation involved a consignment of transit cargo declared for onward movement to Niger.

According to the GRA, discrepancies were detected in documentation and compliance with established transit procedures, prompting a detailed internal review.

“Initial assessments indicate potential procedural breaches requiring further independent and comprehensive examination,” the statement noted.

The Authority explained that the ongoing investigation will establish the full facts, including the extent of any individual involvement and possible departures from established Customs protocols. It added that additional officers may be invited to assist with the probe where necessary.

The GRA assured stakeholders and the general public that the interdictions underscore its commitment to safeguarding national revenue and upholding the integrity of its operations.

Upon conclusion of the investigation, appropriate administrative action will be taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, the statement said.

Reaffirming its stance, the Authority stressed its resolve to ensure that all revenue collection and enforcement procedures are executed with the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
