EOCO grants Miracles Aboagye GH¢50 million bail

The High Court has placed a temporary freeze on five bank accounts and four landed properties belonging to former Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD) Executive Secretary, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, as investigations into alleged financial and procurement irregularities continue.

The preservation order, issued on Monday, August 3, bars Mr Aboagye from accessing or undertaking transactions involving the affected bank accounts.

It also prevents the sale, transfer, mortgage or any other form of disposal of the four properties until the court directs otherwise.

The order was secured by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), which is investigating alleged financial and procurement-related breaches involving about GH¢55 million during Mr Aboagye’s tenure at IMCCoD.

EOCO is examining transactions and procurement activities carried out during the period under investigation to determine whether they involved financial misconduct or other offences.

The asset-freezing order is intended to preserve property that could potentially be relevant to the investigation and prevent it from being transferred or otherwise dealt with while the case is being examined.

Mr Aboagye has denied the allegations, insisting that he did not engage in any wrongdoing.

He was earlier granted bail of GH¢50 million with three sureties pending the completion of the investigations.
