The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has identified 20 mobile loan applications operating without the required licence or authorisation to provide digital credit services in Ghana.

In a notice dated August 3, 2026, the central bank said the identified platforms were continuing to provide digital loans to the public through online channels in breach of the regulatory framework governing digital credit service providers.

The apps named by the BoG are Adamfo Loan, Agyapacredit, Amanfi Loan, Arco Cash, Aya Lend, Bucks Now, CediGo, CGrab, DumboCash, FCash, Gh Loans, Gh Loans Pro, Hasty Credit, Newgry Money Tree, Omanpesa, PoPoCedi, Ready Money, Sika Tap, Sikapa Loan and Zigwe Loan.

The BoG said the operations of the entities violate requirements under the Directive for Digital Credit Service Providers in Ghana, issued in September 2025, as well as other applicable laws.

“The Bank reiterates that the operations of these entities constitute significant violations of customer data privacy, consumer protection, and established regulatory standards,” the notice said.

The central bank warned members of the public against engaging with the identified providers and urged banks, specialised deposit-taking institutions and payment service providers not to facilitate or process transactions on behalf of unlicensed digital loan operators.

The BoG also said it would continue working with relevant state institutions to identify, investigate and take enforcement action against unlicensed providers.

“The Bank of Ghana will continue to collaborate with relevant state institutions to identify, investigate, and take appropriate enforcement action against such entities in order to safeguard consumers and uphold the integrity and stability of the financial sector,” it said.

The public has been encouraged to report suspected activities of unlicensed digital loan providers to the BoG’s Fintech and Innovation Department.

The latest notice follows an earlier warning by the central bank on the operations of unlicensed Digital Credit Services Providers (DCSPs) and forms part of efforts to strengthen oversight of digital lending activities in Ghana.
