The Cape Coast District Magistrate Court has remanded Michael Darko and Nana Clark, the two individuals who masterminded the gruesome killing and burying of a trainee nurse in Akwakrom in the Ekumfi District of the Central Region.
The two, a pastor and the chief of Tufuhene of Akwakrom, are standing charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, to wit, murder and murder, contrary to section 46 of the Criminal and Offences Acts 1980, Act 29.
While narrating the details of the crime to the court, the prosecutor, DSP Daniel Dadzo, revealed that the deceased, Georgina Aso Botchwey, was a native of Yeji in the Bono East Region.
DSP Dadzo indicated that she had come to the Central Region around September 8 to process documents in order to gain admission to the Ankaful Psychiatric Nursing School, where she met with the pastor, who later became her lover,
DSP Dazdo continued that she arranged with the pastor to pick her up at Pedu Jucntion after the interview.
The pastor, on picking her up, introduced her to Nana Clark as his friend, and the three then took a vehicle owned by Nana Clark and drove towards Akwakrom.
According to the prosecutor, the deceased’s phone was taken by the two suspects, and she was imprisoned in a room owned by Nana Clark.
The deceased was allegedly murdered by the two by striking her with a club, thereby rendering her unconscious. She was then strangled to death by the pastor.
The deceased was subsequently buried in another hideout in Asikafo Ambantem in Mankessim, owned by Nana Clark.
The police launched an investigation into the disappearance of the deceased following a complaint lodged with them by her brother after several days of not seeing her.
The two are still in police custody and are to reappear in court on Monday, October 3, 2022, following a plea for additional time for investigations by the prosecutor.
