In a national address ahead of Saturday’s general elections, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to approach the polls with peace, dignity, and mutual respect, underscoring the importance of maintaining the nation’s democratic values.
“The security agencies, led by the police, have made all the relevant deployments and preparations to guarantee peace, law, and order before, during, and after the election,” the President assured. “Let us all cooperate with them to ensure that the election is conducted in an atmosphere devoid of intimidation and violence.”
President Akufo-Addo encouraged citizens to perform their civic duty by voting freely for their preferred candidates while upholding tolerance and mutual respect. “Let us go and cast our ballots in peace and dignity and in an environment of tolerance and mutual respect. Each one of us should go out and do his or her duty to ensure a peaceful and prosperous Ghana,” he stated.
He commended the Electoral Commission for its efforts to strengthen the electoral process, describing it as “a much more efficient and transparent institution.” The President expressed confidence in the Commission’s ability to deliver an election that reflects the true will of the people.
“I urge all of us to cooperate with the electoral officials to do their work and ensure that we can all be proud of having added another notch to the list of successful elections we have held,” he added.
