The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has strongly refuted claims circulating in a viral audio recording alleging that a civilian pickup truck was allowed entry into the 5th Battalion of Infantry’s Magazine to transport boxes of ammunition to an unknown location.
In a press release dated 25th December 2024, GAF described the information as “false and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.”
According to GAF, the vehicle in question was delivering a newly acquired live cow, which was taken to the premises to be quarantined before relocation to a kraal adjacent to the Magazine.
GAF urged the public to verify information concerning security services before sharing, cautioning that the spread of misinformation creates unnecessary tension and fear.
“Such actions tend to cause fear and panic in the country, especially around this period,” the statement read.
The Armed Forces reiterated that its doors remain open to the public for any enquiries.
“We remind all and sundry that they should not hesitate to contact the Department of Public Relations for any enquiries about the institution,” the release added.
GAF reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining national peace and stability, stressing that actions or statements that undermine the country’s security should be avoided.
