Ghanaians all over the country have on Friday, June 6, 2022, marked the 2022 edition of the Green Ghana Day.
The President of the Republic, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and other prominent Ghanaians have joined the efforts, planting trees at various locations.
The hashtags #GreenGhanaDay, #GreenGhana2022, and #LetsGoPlanting are trending on social media as part of Green Ghana Day.
It is expected that about 20 million trees will be planted all over the country, with 10 million being planted at reserve compartments and the other 10 million planted in other places across the country, such as public areas, homes, institutions, churches, and mosques.
The sector in charge, the Ministry for Lands and Natural Resources, has, through Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), made available seedlings to the public.
The Ministry has also embarked on sensitization programmes through various groups and via traditional and digital media, stressing the need for all and sundry to plant at least a tree.
