The Ghana Integrity Initiative, the Ghana branch of Transparency International, has appointed Mrs. Mary Awelana Addah as the new Executive Director, succeeding Mrs. Linda Ofori Kwafo.

The effective date of the new appointment is September 4, 2023.

Announcing the leadership change in a statement dated August 31, 2023, GII praised the qualities of Mrs. Addah in the fight against corruption, having contributed extensively to discussions and thought leadership on anti-corruption and governance.

“She joined GII in November 2009 as Senior Programmes and Research Officer. In May 2014, she became GII’s Programmes Manager, a position she held until her appointment as Executive Director”, the statement from GII read in part.

She had also had stints with other organisations including the Ghana Trade and Livelihoods Coalition (GTLC), the Centre for Education and Social Development (CENCOSAD) and the Ghana Education Service, according to the statement.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, both from the University of Ghana, and possesses several certificates in Governance, Anti-Corruption, Leadership, Fundraising, Monitoring and Evaluation from several local and international institutions.

“She is a key member of the steering committee of the Ghana Citizen Movement against Corruption (CMaC), the CSO representative on the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Steering Committee, and a member of the NACAP Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (MONICOM), among others”, the statement furthered.
