The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has dismissed recent reports claiming the organisation recorded losses exceeding GHC3 billion in its first year of operation.
In a statement issued on 17 November 2025, GoldBod described the report by Asaase Radio as “entirely false and deliberately contrived to undermine the successes” of the statutory body.
“The Ghana Gold Board has been making significant surpluses since its establishment,” the statement said, adding that quarterly financial statements, to be published soon on the GoldBod website, will demonstrate the board’s profitability.
The Board called on the public to disregard the Asaase Radio publication, describing it as misleading and unethical. It also urged the media outlet to issue a retraction and an unqualified apology to the public.
GoldBod said its operations have been a major contributor to efforts to revitalise Ghana’s economy. While the statement did not provide specific figures, it emphasised that the board’s financial performance has been positive since inception.
The statement signed by Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi underscored the Board’s commitment to transparency and accountability, noting that official reports and statements would soon confirm the institution’s strong financial standing.
