Scores of residents living along the stretches of Kenyasi and Hwidiem communities in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region can now breathe a sigh of relief as the government has begun a process of resurfacing their old and deplorable roads.
The construction of the 8.2km road that links the Kenyasi and Hwidiem communities came to the attention of the government following persistent calls by the residents for its fixing.
Residents, therefore, could not hide their joy at witnessing the rehabilitation of the roads.
Before the construction of the 8.2 kilometer road network in those two localities began, residents were visibly seen battling with the bumpy and dusty nature of the road. According to some members living in the two communities, they used to breath dust into their nostrils after the roads deteriorated, but this has abated with the commencement of roads.
The road, when completed, is expected to boost economic activity in the adjoining areas where most of the people living there are farmers. The road engineers, who have been tasked with rehabilitating the roads, have since been working assiduously to complete them on schedule.
Some earlier reports had it that the residents have vowed not to partake in any national exercise any longer unless their roads are fully tarred.
