The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced plans to temporarily shut down the 161 kV Akosombo–Nkawkaw Transmission Line from October 5 to October 14, 2025, to enable the relocation of two towers along the Kumasi–Accra road corridor.

According to a statement issued by GRIDCo’s Corporate Communications Section, the relocation has become necessary to make way for ongoing works by the Ghana Highway Authority as part of the expansion of the Kumasi–Accra road.

“The outage is to relocate two towers on the line along the Kumasi–Accra road,” GRIDCo said, assuring that arrangements have been made to ensure there will be no disruption of power supply to consumers during the period.

The company added that engineering teams have been placed on standby to respond swiftly to any incident that may arise during the project.

“GRIDCo apologises for any inconvenience this may cause consumers and the public,” the statement concluded.
