President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has accepted the resignation of the outgoing Minister for Saniation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

While describing his acceptance of the letter as a “considerable regret”, President Akufo-Addo stated that her tenure as minister was excellent and productive.

“It is with considerable regret that I accept your resignation, and I applaud your loyalty to the image and standing of the Government. The work you undertook during your period in government was excellent and productive,” the President stated in his letter dated July 22, 2023.

The President also expressed confidence that the honorable minister would be vindicated with time.

“I am confident, like you, that, at the end of the day, your integrity while in office will be fully established.”

Hon. Cecilia Dapaah submitted her resignation on July 22, 2023, after wide public rage over an alleged theft incident involving millions of Ghana Cedis by two househelps at her Abelemkpe residence.

The public had questioned why she would keep such huge sums in her home, alleging potential corruption.

In her resignation letter, Hon. Dapaah stated that she did not want the issue to be the preoccupation of the government, hence her resignation.

She additionally welcomed any investigation into the theft case, adding that she would be exonerated in the end.
