Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been removed from INTERPOL’s Red Notice list, following a determination by the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) that the alert did not comply with the organisation’s rules.
In a statement issued on Friday night, February 13, 2026, his legal representatives — Minkah-Premo, Osei-Bonsu, Bruce Kathline and Partners — disclosed that the CCF, at its 135th Session held on February 4, 2026, concluded that the Red Notice issued against Mr Ofori-Atta “appears of a predominantly political character” and therefore breached INTERPOL’s regulations. The Commission consequently ordered that the notice be permanently expunged from INTERPOL’s database.
Detailing the decision, the lawyers quoted the CCF as stating: “After a thorough examination of the elements before it, the commission found that the challenged data registered by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) of Ghana were not compliant with INTERPOL’s rules and decided that they should be deleted from the INTERPOL information system.”
