President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Rev. Ing. Edmund Yirenkyi Fianko as the acting director general of the National Communications Authority (NCA), the communications directorate of the Authority has revealed.
He replaces Dr. Joe Anokye, who resigned from the Authority on 6th January 2025.
Rev. Ing. Fianko, an accomplished electronic communications engineer, brings over 20 years of expertise in radio frequency spectrum management, telecommunications and broadcasting regulation, policy development, and industry leadership.
He joined the NCA as a national service person in 2004 and steadily rose through the ranks, most recently serving as the director of the engineering division from January 2024.
He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Beyond his engineering career, he is a minister of the Methodist Church Ghana, a published author, and the founder of the evangelistic outreach ministry, Nkwa.Life.
Rev. Ing. Fianko is expected to lead the NCA into a new era of growth and technological advancement, leveraging his extensive experience in technology regulation, leadership, and innovation.
