President John Dramani Mahama has dissolved the Boards of nine state institutions with immediate effect, directing the relevant sector Ministers to take steps to give effect to the decision.

The affected institutions are Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited, Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO), Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG), Ghana Post Company Limited (GhanaPost), Road Maintenance Trust Fund, TDC Ghana Limited, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the National Sports Authority.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Presidency on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, and signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications.

The Presidency said the dissolution takes immediate effect and requires the relevant sector Ministers to undertake the necessary administrative and legal processes.

“Relevant sector Ministers have been directed to take all necessary steps, in accordance with the applicable laws and governing instruments, to give effect to the dissolution of these Boards,” the statement said.

It added that the decision forms part of the administration’s ongoing changes to the governance structures of state institutions.

The Presidency, however, indicated that the dissolution does not amount to the permanent abolition of the Boards.

“The affected Boards will be reconstituted in due course,” the statement said.

The latest decision affects institutions operating across key sectors of the economy, including petroleum, banking, mining, infrastructure, manufacturing, postal services and sports.

No specific reasons were provided in the statement for the dissolution of the individual Boards.
