Scores of aggrieved youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region have demonstrated against the closure of fuel stations (Lily Gold) owned by its chairman, Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba, popularly known as Chairman Samba.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the protest on Monday, the Regional Youth Organizer of the party, Alhaji Alhassan ‘Ghana’, stated that the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) closed down the Lily Gold fuel stations due to irregularities identified per the Authority’s standard.
According to Alhaji Ghana, although corrective measures have been put in place by the fuel stated, they have remained closed despite several petitions for their reopening.
He, however, stated that the regional leadership of the party has, in the process of the demonstration, received assurance calls from the party’s national office, giving indications of the reopening and active operation of the fuel stations.
The Dean of Constituency Chairmen, Alhaji Baba Gazali, further stated that they have responded to the plea of the National Officers of the Party to withdraw the further actions of the youth as they resolve the issue permanently.
He thanked the youth for coming out in their numbers, evident of the love they have for the party and Chairman Samba.
