The National Communications Authority (NCA) has formally notified MultiChoice Ghana Limited of its intention to suspend the company’s authorisation to operate its Subscription Management Service for Satellite Television Broadcasting (Pay TV Direct-to-Home Bouquet), citing concerns over its pricing model.
The regulatory notice, issued on Thursday, follows what the Authority describes as a pricing structure that is “inimical to the public interest.”
The intended suspension is being pursued under Section 13 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775), which empowers the NCA to take such action in the interest of consumers.
In accordance with due process, MultiChoice Ghana has been given 30 days to respond. Within this period, the company may present its views, propose remedial actions, and submit a written statement objecting to the suspension.
