The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has summoned Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, to assist in investigations regarding allegations he made against former President John Dramani Mahama.

In an official letter signed by the Bono Regional Commander of NIB, Mr. Kwaku Afari, Abronye has been directed to meet the Director of Investigations on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Kawukudi, Greater Accra Region.

“I have been instructed by the Director of Investigations of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to invite you to assist the Bureau to investigate allegations you levelled against His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama,” the letter stated.

The summons follows claims Abronye made during an interview on Movement TV’s “Movement in the Morning” show, hosted by Kwaku Dawuro. He alleged that former President Mahama is hoarding GH¢550 million intended for dismissed appointees at the Jubilee House and further accused the administration of corruption in recruitment and revocation processes.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, has been detained by the NIB at Kawukudi, near Nima in the Greater Accra Region.

The exact reasons for his detention remain unclear, as no official statement has been released by authorities.

According to reports, his arrest was unexpected, prompting swift intervention from his legal team.

As of now, his lawyers are engaging with NIB officials to understand the circumstances of his detention and negotiate for his release.

Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi, a former Minister of Education, has held several key government positions, including his tenure as GIIF Board Chairman. His detention has raised concerns within political circles, with observers keenly watching for further developments.
